Dear Parents and Students,

Welcome to the 2008-2009 school year.  I hope everyone had a good summer.

The Visitation Band program will start on Tuesday, September 9, 2008,  The Concert Band members will have a half hour sectional along with full band rehearsal on Tuesdays.  The Beginner students, those who started in the summer, will have their sectionals on Wednesdays and two groups on Thursdays.  The Intermediate Band students will meet on Thursdays for their sectional and also their full band rehearsal.  Please remember to bring your instruments on your assigned days!  Enclosed is a copy of your schedule for the upcoming months.  This schedule is subject to change.  Please make sure you check the schedule in the Music Room for any changes.

If you decide not to return to the Visitation band program this year, I must receive a written letter from a parent stating that you will not be participating in band.  A copy of this letter will be given to Sr. Thomas Leo so she is aware of your decision.

The tuition for band is $40.00 per month for the first child in the band program, $25.00 per month for the second child from the same family, and $20.00 per child thereafter.  Band tuition is due by the 10th of each month.  PLEASE MAKE CHECKS PAYABLE TO PAT MCMURRAY... NOT VISITATION SCHOOL!! You will be assessed any fees accrued from returned checks.  Please do not add band tuition to your school tuition.  Enclosed is a separate Band Tuition Envelope for your convenience.

There is also a one-time Band Fee of $40.00 for each student in the Concert Band and the Intermediate Band, due with the first month's tuition payment.  This fee covers the cost of instruction books, solo contest fees, medals/awards, and any other activities and music that the band may have.  The Beginner students are not assessed this fee.

Research has proven that music education enhances a student's academic experience, self-discipline, and positive self-esteem.  If is my intention to provide quality instruction that will be musically rewarding and beneficial to our students' musical growth.
