8TH GRADE NEWS

Literature - 8th grade students will complete their first novel study.  Across Five Aprils is historical fiction that takes place during the Civil War years.                               Students will work on various assignments & projects as they share the trials and tribulations of the fictitious Creighton family.

English - Students are learning about the verbs and their correct usage as we continue our grammar study.  The 8th grade will also practice writing both business and personal letters as part of their writing unit.

Social Studies - We are continuing our study of post Civil War America.  Students are currently examining the movement towards imperialism of the world in general and the US in particular during the late 1800's.

Math - In Math we are reviewing sets of numbers, properties and operation of our real number system.

Science - We are continuing our study of physics, specifically the study of motion and forces.  One of our favorite projects this month focuses on designing and building a vehicle that moves without an outside force acting on it.                                            We are also preparing for Science Fair.

Religion - We are honoring the month of the rosary by praying one decade daily.  In honor of the "Year of St. Paul," as declared by Pope Benedict, we are creating timelines, posters, and written reports about his life and missionary work.
