3RD GRADE NEWS

Reading - We are starting our new theme, "Voyagers" and will be reading stories about taking long journeys to a distant place.  We will complete pages from our Practice Book on comprehension, graphic organizers, vocabulary, and grammar.

Math -We are continuing to practice our multiplication facts and work on division with remainders.  We will learn to identify fractional parts of a set, name of triangle angles, and geometric solids including their faces, vertices, and edges.

Religion - We will begin our new chapter "We Pray for Faith".  We will discuss our Catholic beliefs, teachings of the Apostles, and the Apostles' Creed.  We will then begin Unit 5, "The Church Has a Mission to the World."  In this unit we will learn how followers of Jesus are to work for peace and justice and help others learn about God's Kingdom. 

English - We will continue our unit on adverbs - negatives, good and well, their and there, coordinating conjuctions, and to/too/two.  We will then beginour unit on pronouns.

Social Studies - We have started our unit on the Solar System.  We learned the order of the planets and we will begin to learn facts about each one.
