3RD GRADE NEWS

Reading - We have continued reading our first theme "Off to Adventure."  We will finish the last selection "Ballad of Mulan", and take our first Reading Theme Test.  We will then begin our second theme, "Celebrating Traditions."

Math - We continue to practice our addition and subtraction math facts by playing Magic T's at the blackboard.  We will be working with pattern blocks and identifying the value, writing number sentences, dividing squares into two and four equal parts, and counting money.  We will continue to work with fractions and naming and drawing polygons.

Religion -  October is the month of the rosary.  We will say a decade of the rosary every day.  We will also attend First Friday Mass and Mass on Wednesday, October 8th. We have finished the first two chapters and have started our chapter on how we can show our love to one another.  Also, during the month of October the children are doing their Saint Presentations.  They have read a book on a saint of their choice and come to school dressed as their saint to present their report.  The children get to learn about 25 different saints. 

English - We have started our unit on nouns.  We will identify a common and proper noun, singular and plural nouns, and irregular and possessive nouns.
