1ST GRADE NEWS
Updated:May 2010
The final month of school has arrived. Unbelievable! May is the month of Mary, our Mother. We will show our love for Mary through prayer, song, good works, and art projects. In late May, the first grade will participate in a classroom May Crowning ceremony, as well.
On May 11th, we'll be attending the Spring Concert (Dress Rehearsal) presented by the Vis Bands and the 7th & 8th graders. This month, we will have our Class Picnic, too. We wouldn't want to miss that! There will be plenty of fun and games to help celebrate our first grade year. The Class Picinic will be held on Friday, May 28th, rain or shine. Let's hope for "shine!" Weather permitting, the picnic will be held at York Commons (Smalley) from around 10:30 to 1:30. But, we have fun plans for the whole day long. more info about the picnic will follow later. if any family members are able to meet us at the park, please do. The more the merrier!
During the month of May, we'll be wrapping-up lots of things, and cleaning up lots of things, too. We're trying to instill lots of ideas about expanding "brain power" over the summer months. The children will be making "Summer Study Packets" to help things along. They will also organize their "Portfolio of Projects". This series of project began in September and continued through May. It is always amazing to students and teacher to observe the growth that has taken place.
Indeed, May will be a busy month. but, it will also be smooth-sailing right into June. When June arrives, our first graders will be second graders! WOW!
